About the Book
Dreamwives is a witty and satirical exploration of the invisible labour that women have shouldered for centuries.

When middle-aged housewife Katrina Webb is unceremoniously dumped by her husband and left financially stranded, she reconnects with her old friend Michelle Redlin-Wu, who is grappling with her own challenges after being laid off while caring for her elderly father. Over a stolen bottle of champagne, the two women hatch a bold and slightly outrageous plan: to turn the ‘wife-work’ they’ve been doing for free into a profitable business.

Their venture, Dreamwives, offers extreme customer service – cooking meals, tidying homes and lending a listening ear to clients in need of emotional support. But as their business takes off, Katrina finds herself embroiled in a public scandal and Michelle faces an unexpected romantic entanglement. Can they navigate the chaos and prove that the work women do is worth every cent?

Written by Catherine Jinks and Alexa Moses, Dreamwives is as much a tribute to the transformative power of female friendship as it is a witty and thought-provoking commentary on the unpaid labour that keeps the world turning. The authors, who jokingly refer to themselves as ‘work wives’, conceived the idea for the book over lunch, inspired by their shared experiences of juggling domestic responsibilities and professional lives. Their collaboration, filled with laughter and mutual support, mirrors the themes of the novel itself.

Copies of Dreamwives will be available to purchase on the night - or pick up a copy in store now!
